2. Three Weeks Later
And Jim Splatt was happy again. He had found a new love interest and, although he wouldn’t have countenanced it at the time, but an upgrade on Felicity.
After their first date, he shook his head when thinking how he had been so low to have contemplated and then executed that ultimate act of desperation. But the passage of just 21 days had provided a panacea in the form of the delightful and beautiful Debbie and the backdrop of a marina. But his actions of three weeks earlier came back to scuttle his regained emotional buoyancy.
‘You deceived me,’ Debbie accused him on WhatsApp. ‘You said I was the type of girl who could capture my heart.’
‘Yes, and that is indeed so!!!’ Splatt responded.
‘But, I have checked online. You no longer possess an emotional heart. You sold it earlier this month for 3,750 US Dollars to Heart Toppers so you have no heart for me to capture. You are heartless, Jim Splatt. Thank goodness I found out before I got too involved. Besides I think your surname is crap anyway.’
Jim was again devastated, although this time no longer in debt. He had acted hastily in the midst of emotional turmoil. He didn’t know much about the company he sold his heart to, or what was now expected of him being officially heartless and if it was within his powers to retrieve the recognised symbol of his emotions.
He resolved the next day to delve into it all. A quick perusal of the net found that being officially heartless meant he was now exempt from being targeted by charities for donations.
